'Outlander' star Sam Heughan reflects on the 'Waypoints' of his life in new memoir

 Sam Heughan’s character on “ Outlander, ” Jamie Fraiser, is known for the strife he’s endured on screen. Though he suffers through floggings and disasters, Jamie Fraiser is propelled by a passionate love affair with another character, Claire Randall. 

 

 Heughan details the grand tale of his life off- screen in a recently released bio named “ Waypoints My Scottish trip. ” In the book, Heughan reflects on his trip to getting a successful actor while hiking Scotland's West Highland Way. 

 

 “ This isn't Jamie Fraser, the king of men. This is an actor who thinks he is playing the part of a hillwalker, ” he says. “ But I plodded. I nearly gave up. I set up myself lost on the side of Loch Lomond in the dark. And it was not until I really sort of braked down and enjoyed the trip that I began to appreciate the trail itself. ” 

 

 Heughan’s trip led him to set up anon-profit association called My Peak Challenge to inspire others to live a healthy, active life. The further than$ 6 million raised so far has advantaged a number of causes from hunger relief to cancer exploration.

 On embarking on his hiking trip 

 “ I got out and was ready to set off into the outdoors. Some woman came up to me and she honored me from the television show, and it was actually a really nice exchange. It's intriguing because I set off on this solitary trip. I wanted to take time to reflect and actually the moments where I met people made the journey way more satisfying. ” 

 

 On reciting ‘ Romeo and Juliet ’ to himself on the journey 

 “ It's intriguing because, I suppose, I had not ever really recalled it. And nearly in the dark recesses of my mind, it came out along with everything differently that was presumably buried in there. I set up myself descending into insanity talking to myself, talking to the original fauna, the mushrooms. ” 

 

 On beginning his acting trip in Los Angeles 

 “ Looking back at the times I spent going to America auditioning for effects and I had, in a way, been left at the door. I had a lot of plutocrat to get around. I was traveling around Los Angeles by machine. It was delicate. But, look, I guess we all have our own struggles. ” 

 

 On floundering with an eating complaint 

 “ In reflection, I suppose there was a mild case there. I suppose way back when I was starting out, there were a lot of pressures to look a certain way. And they were less talked about for men. And clearly, as a youthful actor — impressionable — I was trying to fit in to what was needed. “ It's transferred me on this great trip now that I have learned about health, heartiness, fitness and educated myself in it. And that is why I created my own charity fitness platform, My Peak Challenge, which educates others in how to produce a healthy life. ” 

 

 On growing up without knowing his father 

 “ It's been a really intriguing trip and I guess what's the most intriguing part was to know that he is had an influence in my life without indeed being there. I'm the man moment because of his absence, I guess. But also, there are other characteristics I suppose I have got that surely he'd aswell.Having said that, you know, I had an amazing parenting and obviously a awful, veritably caring mama . So I feel veritably fortunate. ” 

 

 On what’s to come on ‘ Outlander ’ 

 “ It's been an inconceivable trip. We are eight times into telling the story of Jamie and Claire, and I clearly want to finish the story. still long that goes for, I want to know what happens at the end. We are presently shooting season seven. It's a big season. We are doing 16 occurrences, so we'll see where we get to. But I am agitated for the suckers. There is a lot in there. ”
